Library Services
All
Saints of North America Orthodox Library is a library established for the study
of all aspects of the Orthodox faith. The Library serves as a diocesan
resource for clergy, laypeople, and researchers. It currently houses over
3000 books, an extensive collection of Orthodox periodicals (some dating back to
the 1950s and 1960s), AV materials, and photos. Visit
the
collection page for a more detailed description.
The mission of the library is to preserve, make
available and augment the materials within its care. We serve the Orthodox
clerical community by offering comprehensive reference services, performing
Internet searches, lending materials, providing online catalogs, producing on-demand bibliographies, and
exhibits that can be mounted locally.
The Library's services include:
- Borrowing materials.
Clergy (priests and deacons) may
borrow materials from the library at any time, most for the period of one
month. However, postage is the responsibility of the member.
- Full reference service. Do you have
questions or a need for information on a topic relating to the Orthodox Faith?
Our professional library staff can assist you in finding the answers.
- Influence acquisition of materials. Materials
added to the collection are based on the needs of our users. Suggestions
for new materials are always welcome.
- Bibliographies/Reference Guides. Our
staff can prepare a customized bibliography of books, periodicals and
Internet sources on your topic of interest. For examples of some of our
products, see our website's "Downloads" page.
- Internet/World Wide Web searching.
The
library staff is trained in locating relevant material on the Internet.
- Locate books and other materials. If
you are looking for a book or other item, we will help you find a copy.
We often purchase these for the library collection, making it
possible for you to borrow the item.
- Create exhibits for your parish.
Exhibits combining both inspiring text and photographs illustrating the text
can be mounted on the walls of your parish hall to provide topics for study
and education of parishioners. For an example see the pictures of our
exhibit "Ye Saints of North America" on our website, assembled from the
resources of the library and mounted on the walls outside the library.
